The footage quickly sparked reactions on social media. Just hours before the match between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, Celeste players were inspected by K9 security dogs upon their arrival at the Miami stadium.

As part of the security measures put in place for the 2026 World Cup, officials carried out a thorough inspection of the Uruguayan delegation’s bags, equipment, and luggage. The scene surprised several players and caught the attention of international media.

While these increased checks are intended to ensure the tournament’s security, they have nevertheless prompted plenty of online reactions, with some users describing the procedures as particularly striking.

On the pitch, Uruguay had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia. The match was also notable for a new record set by Fernando Muslera, who became the oldest Uruguayan player ever to appear in a World Cup match.
