By defeating Portugal on Monday night, Spain also set an impressive new record thanks to their defense.

With their 1-0 victory over Portugal in the Round of 16 of this 2026 World Cup, Spain extended their defensive unbeaten streak to 618 minutes. This is an all-time record in the history of the tournament. La Roja surpasses Switzerland (557 minutes) and Italy (550 minutes).

The Spanish national team has not conceded since Ao Tanaka's goal in the 51st minute of Japan vs. Spain (1-2) on December 1, 2022.
