The Zimbabwe Football Association has announced the dismissal of Michael Nees, its German head coach, just two months before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Michael Nees, who had been in charge for 14 months, secured the Warriors’ qualification for AFCON, but delivered a disappointing record in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with only two wins out of 14 matches and a last-place finish in their group (3 draws, 3 defeats).

Zimbabwe must now find a new coach quickly, with a crucial opening match against Egypt on December 22 in Agadir.
