🔴 Flash: former Indomitable Lion dies in car accident!
The Cameroonian football world mourns the loss of one of its former players. Jacques Elong Elong, a former Cameroonian international, has died in a tragic road accident, we learn this Friday, April 4. He was 40 years old.
A quiet stint with the Indomitable Lions
Elong Elong wore the Cameroon jersey only once, in 2006, during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Equatorial Guinea (3-0). He came on late in the game, replacing Landry N'Guémo, who also suffered a fatal accident in June 2024. He joins the painful list of Cameroonian midfielders who passed away prematurely: Marc-Vivien Foé, Valéry Mézague, Patrick Ekeng, Modeste Mbami...
Elong Elong made his name in Iran
After starting his career in Cameroon with Caïman de Douala and Mount Cameroon FC, Elong Elong made his mark in Iran from 2005, notably with Persepolis FC.
Thanks to his work rate and precise passing, he established himself in several Iranian clubs, including Sepahan, Esteghlal, and Paykan.
The team at Foot Africa extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire African football community.
