🔴 Samuel Eto'o Affair: CAS Delivers Its Verdict! (official)

This is a major victory for Samuel Eto'o! The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has just ruled in his favor in his dispute with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The arbitral body has officially annulled the sanctions that barred the current President of Fecafoot from the race for the CAF Executive Committee elections, allowing him to pursue his political ambitions.

A Fierce Battle Against CAF

The case dates back to January 2025, when CAF, through its Governance Committee, decided to exclude Samuel Eto'o from the elections, citing ethical breaches related to his partnership with the operator 1xBet.

Although this sanction was partially lifted on appeal, the exclusion from the electoral race remained. Considering this decision unfair, Eto'o, supported by FECAFOOT, appealed to the CAS in early February to contest this exclusion.

An Unappealable Verdict

This Friday, March 7th, the CAS delivered its verdict: CAF must immediately reinstate Eto'o on the list of candidates.

Furthermore, the body must cover the legal costs and pay 8,000 Swiss francs to Eto'o and FECAFOOT. A dramatic turn of events that completely reshapes the March 12th elections.
