Before their 2026 Women's AFCON quarter-final clash, Algeria and Ivory Coast have already met four times at senior level.

Algeria and Ivory Coast share a relatively brief history. All four of their previous meetings were friendlies, and every single one ended in victory for the Elephants.

Their first showdown, played on April 30, 2014 at the Omar-Hamadi Stadium in Bologhine, saw the Ivorians win 3-1. Houas Angie, Fatou Coulibaly, and Sandrine Nianian found the net for Ivory Coast, while Nachida Laïfa pulled one back for Algeria. Just three days later, the Ivorians triumphed again (2-1) at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa.

The two teams met again in November 2018 in Abidjan for another pair of warm-up matches. Ivory Coast won the first contest (2-1) before asserting dominance in the second (3-0).

The record speaks for itself: four matches, four wins for Ivory Coast, with ten goals scored and just three conceded to Algeria. The 2026 Women's AFCON quarter-final will mark their first-ever meeting in an official competition. The Greens will be chasing their first victory over the Elephants.
