Next Thursday, the French national team will take on Morocco at Boston's Gillette Stadium in the quarter-finals of this 2026 World Cup.

To officiate this high-stakes encounter, FIFA has officially appointed Argentine referee Facundo Tello. While Argentinians lamented the selection of Frenchman François Letexier for La Albiceleste's round of 16 match against Egypt (0-1, ongoing), this decision feels like a subtle twist of fate.

This will be the referee's sixth World Cup match, and his third in the 2026 edition. Despite his experience, Tello has never before officiated a match involving Les Bleus.
