2026 World Cup – Germany: Joshua Kimmich on a mission
Germany is determined to show a different side in the United States at this 2026 World Cup. Joshua Kimmich has laid out the team's ambitions.
Die Mannschaft will kick off their campaign against Curaçao tonight. Germany is promising to give it everything they've got—at least, that's what captain Joshua Kimmich has declared.
"We want Germany to be proud of us again. That's our main goal. We know we're representing our entire country here. You can really feel that playing a major tournament for Germany is something completely different. We have a fantastic opportunity to ignite enthusiasm and joy back home. As captain, my role now carries a little more weight. I sense a lot of positive energy within our squad. If we give our absolute best, if we play with heart, determination, and passion, maybe we can pass that energy to the whole country and spark momentum," said the Bayern Munich player in an interview with Bild.
