Morocco managed to hold Brazil to a draw in their World Cup 2026 debut (1-1). After the match, a journalist did not spare the Brazilians.

If not for a goal by Vinícius Jr before halftime, Brazil could have even started their tournament with a defeat against Morocco’s Atlas Lions. In the wake of this underwhelming performance, the Brazilian press came out swinging, taking aim at Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Fernando Kallás, a journalist from Globo, called it the "worst 45 minutes since the 7-1 against Germany" at the 2014 World Cup. According to him, several players were completely inactive on the pitch. "Ibáñez, Igor Thiago, and Casemiro were disastrous," he explained.

He also raised questions about a Barcelona player who was expected to shine right from the South Americans’ opener: "Does Raphinha really deserve this untouchable status?"
