2026 World Cup (Q): Gathering begins for the Mourabitounes

The Mourabitounes kicked off their training camp this Monday, March 17, 2025, in Nouakchott, ahead of the crucial matches against Togo (March 22) and the DR Congo (March 25). Aritz Lopez Garai, recently appointed head coach, has called up 25 players, including two new faces: Hamady Ndiaye and Mohamed Lemine Hawbott.

After leading the local team brilliantly at the CHAN 2024, the Spanish coach is making his debut with the senior team. The first training session was held at the Cheikha Boรฏdiya stadium, marking the start of preparation for these qualifiers. With clear ambitions for qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, Garai will need to quickly impose his vision and guide the Mourabitounes to the next stages.
