It was already expected! Now it's official. Édouard Mendy is out for the clash against Belgium.

Pape Thiaw, head coach of Senegal, appeared at a press conference ahead of their showdown with Belgium in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup. The Lions of Teranga boss addressed the situation of Édouard Mendy, who is sidelined with a left knee injury.

"We won't have Édouard Mendy. Even if he's not fit to play tomorrow, he'll still be with us. We're hoping to win so he can rejoin us for the rest of the tournament. Mory (Diaw) put in an excellent performance with a clean sheet. We hope he'll do the same tomorrow (Wednesday)," Thiaw said.
