2026 World Cup: Top 20 goalkeepers with the most saves before the round of 16
Although eliminated in the group stage, Eloy Room remains the goalkeeper with the highest number of saves before the round of 16 of the World Cup 2026.
The Curaçao shot-stopper racked up 20 saves, 15 of which came from shots inside the box. He played a pivotal role in his country's historic goalless draw against Ecuador.
Right behind him is Orlando Gill, the man who knocked out Germany in the round of 32. With 19 saves to his name, he could overtake Room in the upcoming clash against France in the round of 16.
Heroic against Argentina, Vozinha tallied 18 saves. He repeatedly denied Lionel Messi and his teammates, but Cape Verde eventually succumbed to the relentless pressure of the Albiceleste.
Among the African keepers in the Top 20, Lionel Mpasi (DR Congo) has 14 saves, Ronwen Williams (South Africa) 11, and Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt) 10. The latter is notably the only one to have stopped a penalty along with Mike Maignan (France).
