A Franco-Algerian makes a plea to Petkovic
Rafik Messali, Toulouse FC player

Rafik Messali turns 22 today, Monday, April 28. One of his major goals at the moment is to receive a call from Vladimir Petkovic in the coming weeks.

Rafik Messali, a right-back and midfielder for Toulouse FC, aspires to join the Algerian squad led by Vladimir Petkovic during the June international break, where the Fennecs will face Sweden in Stockholm. Trained at TΓ©fΓ©cΓ©, the Franco-Algerian made his Ligue 1 debut in November 2024. Since joining the Toulouse starting eleven, he has consistently delivered impressive performances. Five recent starts and his first assist against Lille have thrust the versatile player into the spotlight.

It's worth noting that his time with the Algerian U20 team in 2022, during the North African Championship, cemented his passion for the national colors. In an interview with DZ Foot, he emphasized the importance of the remaining matches this season with Toulouse to prove his worth and catch the attention of coach Vladimir Petkovic.

It’s a goal I have in mind, to join the national team as early as June. But if I'm not there, I'll keep working hard to earn my place, Rafik Messali states with determination.
