A historic achievement for Tanzanian football! The Serengeti Boys have secured their first-ever spot in the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations final after overcoming Egypt 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a deadlock in regular time.

Tanzania had never dreamed of reaching such heights. The U-17 national team, known as the Serengeti Boys, clinched their ticket to the final on May 28 by defeating Egypt 4-3 in penalties, capping off a tense and tightly contested match.

After 90 minutes without a winner, the penalty shootout sealed the victory for Tanzania’s youngsters—just as they did against Algeria in the quarterfinals.

Impeccable journey

From the start of the tournament, Tanzania impressed everyone with their resilience and high spirits. Their record before the final: two wins, two draws after 90 minutes, and just one loss (to Mali).

The adventure continues for the Serengeti Boys, who will now face the winner of the other semifinal between hosts Morocco and Senegal in the final.
