Ahmed Touba to be subject of a battle this summer
The Algerian international defender, loaned this season by Basaksehir FK to KV Mechelen, is at the center of behind-the-scenes maneuvers between several Belgian clubs. With 25 matches and 2 goals to his name, he has convinced his management. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Mechelen has decided to activate the purchase option set at 800,000 euros.
An unexpected decision, as Anderlecht thought they could secure his services freely this summer. The Brussels club reportedly even reached a verbal agreement with the 27-year-old player. But Mechelen seems determined not to let such a valuable asset slip away without compensation.
Ahmed Touba is still tied to Basaksehir until June 2025. The Turkish club also retains an option to extend his contract by an additional season, which could further complicate the deal.
