Algeria - BVB: Ramy Bensebaini, the bad news confirmed!
Absent from the November training camp and thus missing both victories over Zimbabwe (3-1) and Saudi Arabia (2-0), Ramy Bensebaini continues to battle persistent lower back pain. Staying in Dortmund during the international break to follow an individual program, the Algerian defender had hoped to use this pause to stabilize a discomfort that's been bothering him for several weeks. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, BVB was even aiming for a gradual return to team training before the weekend, which would have signaled a possible call-up against Stuttgart.
Ruled out: Bensebaini still sidelined
But the situation hasn't improved. On Thursday, Niko Kovač confirmed the bad news: Bensebaini is still suffering from severe lower back pain and will not take part in the Bundesliga matchday 11 clash. The Algerian international was unable to participate in the crucial training session, leading the medical staff to officially rule him out. Already forced to manage these issues against Hamburg before the break, where he could only sit on the bench, the player's return is now postponed to an as yet undetermined date.
Dortmund hopes to prevent the injury from becoming a long-term problem, but caution remains the watchword. The Bensebaini situation is delicate, and his ability to string together games in the coming weeks is now in doubt.
