Algeria set to build a new stadium in Béjaïa to meet global standards
Algeria continues the modernization of its sports infrastructure with an ambitious project to construct a state-of-the-art 30,000-seat stadium in the commune of El Kseur, in the Béjaïa province.
This initiative is part of the national strategy aimed at strengthening sports facilities and supporting the country's bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in the coming years.
Béjaïa: A new 30,000-seat stadium in the works
Béjaïa is about to take another big step forward with the construction of a sports venue built to the latest international standards.
The project was officially presented during a meeting chaired by the province's wali, Kamel Eddine Karbouche, on April 20. This session provided an opportunity to review the technical study for the future stadium and define the main priorities for its realization.
This new facility will complement the existing sports infrastructure in the region, notably the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium, inaugurated on July 10, 2024. The project will place a particular emphasis on accessibility, parking development, and the quality of ancillary infrastructure.
Moreover, this stadium will help ease congestion at the Unité Maghrébine Stadium, which currently hosts matches for JSM Béjaïa, MO Béjaïa, and Olympique Akbou, and is no longer fully meeting the demands of modern football.
