Algeria–Rwanda: a first friendly confrontation in Constantine!
The Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine will serve as the stage on June 5 for an unprecedented clash between the national teams of Algeria and Rwanda. This friendly match, officially announced by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) via the Fennecs' Facebook page, is part of the upcoming FIFA window.
It will be the first friendly test for Vladimir Petkovic, recently appointed head of the Greens. The Swiss coach will continue this series of preparatory matches with a second friendly, scheduled for June 10 against Sweden, in Stockholm.
An unprecedented duel outside of official competitions!
The match against Rwanda will mark the first encounter between the two nations in a non-competitive setting. Until now, the Fennecs and the Amavubi (nickname of the Rwandan team) have faced each other only six times, all during World Cup qualifiers.
These confrontations took place as part of the qualification rounds for the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cup editions. Algeria has always maintained its unbeaten record, totaling four wins and two draws.
The most significant victory was in June 2012, with a resounding score of 4-0 in favor of the Algerians, during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
