The contract renewal saga continues to stir up tension within Egypt’s Al Ahly club, this time involving Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, who has significantly raised his financial demands.

Dieng’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Al Ahly’s management is eager to persuade the Malian international to extend his stay with an annual salary offer of $1.2 million.

Al Ahly and Dieng: the standoff continues!

According to a source close to the club, cited by the Egyptian website FilGoal, negotiations between Al Ahly and Dieng have not seen any significant progress so far.

The same source states that Al Ahly has made an official offer of $1.2 million per year, but the player is demanding $2.2 million to agree to a new contract.

Al Ahly’s management, for its part, is refusing to meet the player’s demands in order to avoid triggering a general wage inflation. The club is determined to maintain a salary cap to ensure dressing room harmony.

Aliou Dieng joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2019 from MC Alger in a deal estimated at around €1.1 million.
