Atalanta Bergamo: Odilon Kossounou close to a return to the field

After a prolonged absence due to injury, Odilon Kossounou is on the verge of making his comeback on the field with Atalanta Bergamo. While everything seemed to indicate an early end to the season, the Italian club recently shared reassuring news.

On January 12, 2025, Odilon Kossounou suffered a musculo-tendinous injury during a training session, involving the right adductor tendon. The Ivorian had to undergo surgery, which kept him away from competitions for several months. Initially, his unavailability was estimated to be between three and four months, raising fears of a premature end to the season for the 24-year-old defender.

However, his rehabilitation has progressed satisfactorily. Since last week, Kossounou has been training individually with the ball. In the post-match interview against Viola, Gasperini mentioned his imminent return to action.

"Kossounou could be back soon, if not next week, then the week before Bologna."

The technical staff remains cautious, however, wanting to ensure his full fitness. Kossounou could be available for the match against Lazio on April 20, 2025, or the one against Bologna on April 13, 2025. Before his injury, the Ivorian defender had played 17 matches across all competitions with Atalanta. His return to defense will undoubtedly bring additional stability to Gian Piero Gasperini's team.
