Atlético Madrid: "Antoine knows how much I love him," says Diego Simeone

Always effusive in his praise for Antoine Griezmann, Diego Simeone once again expressed his admiration for the Frenchman on Tuesday night.

After the Champions League quarter-final second leg between Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona (1-2), Diego Simeone once again declared his love for Antoine Griezmann.

"Antoine knows how much I love him. I told you all last time, because he’s a genius. In time, people will realize that we had a football genius in our ranks. A player who makes the difference, a leader, who has always shown tremendous character. I remember the last Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, his two goals... Then, in the semi-final against Bayern Munich, another goal... I hope God and fate grant him what he’s been seeking for so long in his final moments at the club," said the Argentine coach, visibly moved in front of the press.

Griezmann will leave Atlético at the end of the season to join MLS side Orlando City.
