Badiashile leaves Chelsea and joins Napoli
Chelsea and Napoli have officially announced the loan of Benoît Badiashile. The 25-year-old French defender will play for the Italian club during the 2026-2027 season, with a purchase option set at 20 million euros.
A fresh start under Allegri
Arriving at Chelsea in January 2023 from Monaco for 38 million euros, Benoît Badiashile never managed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge. Last season, he featured in only 16 matches, reinforcing the idea of a move away. Napoli soon expressed their interest, and Massimiliano Allegri approved his profile to bolster his defensive line.
The Frenchman now joins a team aiming to reclaim the heights of Serie A. His loan deal could also become permanent if his performances convince Napoli's management.
An opportunity to seize
For Badiashile, this change of scenery above all represents a chance to reignite a career that has stalled due to inconsistency and recurring injuries. In Naples, he'll have to quickly win Allegri's trust and carve out a place in the defensive rotation.
Having an experienced manager who knows how to handle defenders could be a crucial factor in his revival. If he manages to string together appearances without injury setbacks, he will have a real chance to become a key defender again and convince Napoli to trigger the buy option.
