Real Madrid: Xabi Alonso opens up about his abrupt departure
About nine months after leaving Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso looked back on this painful experience in an interview with Sky Sports.
Currently Chelsea's coach, Xabi Alonso acknowledges that his time in Madrid came to a premature end, while his team was still competing in several competitions. “Everything ended before we knew whether or not the season would finish well. Real Madrid is a special club, a little different in every respect,” he said.
Xabi Alonso holds no grudge against Real Madrid
The Spanish coach retains the feeling that he was unable to see his project with the Madrid club through to the end. Xabi Alonso also insists that he bears no grudge against his former club. “I don’t look back in anger. I look back and think that I tried and gave the best of myself,” he said.
The coach has also taken lessons from this experience. He is now fully focused on his new challenge at Chelsea, where he hopes to launch a project that matches his ambitions.
