Ballon d'Or 2025: Hany Ramzy pessimistic about Mohamed Salah
Interview
Can Mohamed Salah finally clinch the Ballon d'Or? For Hany Ramzy, former Egyptian international, the answer is rather negative. In an interview with Maghreb Foot, the ex-Pharaohs defender expressed his doubts about the Liverpool forward's chances.
According to Hany Ramzy, Mohamed Salah no longer has great chances for the 2025 Ballon d'Or and the reason is quite simple:
Unfortunately, his chances are not what they used to be. Salah's chances of winning the Ballon d'Or have been greatly affected by Liverpool's elimination from the Champions League, which plays a decisive role in determining the winner.
Yet, the numbers speak in Salah's favor: 32 goals and 22 assists this season. Impressive statistics that, in another context, could have made him a serious contender. But the competition is fierce. Between Ousmane Dembélé, Raphina, Kylian Mbappé, and other stars still in the Champions League race, the Egyptian now seems to be trailing in the trophy race. The dream of the first African Ballon d'Or since George Weah in 1995 is slipping away.
