Ballon d'or: "Lamine Yamal served us hamburgers," says Joan Laporta
While he had planned to celebrate the Ballon d'Or, Lamine Yamal was outpaced by Ousmane Dembélé. The Spaniard ultimately treated Barça to hamburgers.
On Monday night during the 69th Ballon d'Or ceremony, Lamine Yamal clinched the Kopa Trophy for the second year in a row. He was left disappointed not to have lifted the Ballon d'Or itself, but that didn’t stop him from putting a smile on the faces of the Catalan delegation in Paris. After the ceremony, Hansi Flick wanted the Blaugrana squad to return straight to Catalonia. The problem? The Barcelona players hadn’t eaten since midday. That’s when Lamine Yamal came to everyone's rescue.
"We ate hamburgers that were really good because we had barely eaten anything... It was him (Lamine Yamal, editor's note) who found them, because Hansi Flick said we should head straight back since they had training, but we were hungry and, with him, Cuba (Cubarsí), and a few others, on the way to the airport by car, they found a place that served really great hamburgers," Joan Laporta told RAC1.
