Barcelona: this player officially sold

FC Barcelona has officially confirmed the transfer of Tommy Marqués to Braga. The 19-year-old Spanish midfielder is leaving the Catalan club for a fee of 11 million euros, with an additional 1 million euros in potential bonuses.

An opportunity to launch his career

Tommy Marqués never managed to secure a regular spot in the first team under Hansi Flick. The young midfielder only made two appearances with the senior squad before deciding to continue his development in Portugal.

The deal also allows Barcelona to retain a number of guarantees regarding their former player. The Catalan club notably holds a first-refusal right and will receive 20% of any future sale of the midfielder.

Braga bets on the potential of the young Barcelona prospect

At just 19, Tommy Marqués is heading to a league where he should be able to take on more responsibility. His move to Braga is set to help him take the next step in his career and finally earn the regular playing time that eluded him in Catalonia.

For the Portuguese club, the deal also represents an investment in a player trained at one of Europe's most renowned academies. For Marqués, his choice of Braga will ultimately be judged by the amount of playing time he earns. Should he manage to establish himself quickly in Portugal, Barcelona could be holding onto a strategically valuable option.
