Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC have announced the appointment of Tlisane Motaung as the club's new head coach on a short-term deal.

The former AmaTuks boss put pen to paper on a contract that's set to run until the end of the season and will be assisted by Thoka Matsemela.

Motaung had been unattached since parting ways with the University of Pretoria at the end of last season.

Under his watchful eye, the capital club reached the PSL Relegation/Promotion playoffs on two occasions during the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons.

Now, he is set for new chapter in Limpopo, where he is tasked with guiding Baroka to a return to the topflight division.

His appointment comes in the wake of Dan Malesela's suspension, which is expected to result in a formal sack letter following a string of poor results.

Baroka are languishing in a relegation spot in 15th place, having picked up just four points from their first seven league outings.

Motaung will kickstart his tenure with tricky visits to the Northern Cape, where Bakgaga will tackle Hungry Lions and Upington City on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
