It's now official, Mohamed Salah will don the jersey of Turkish club Trabzonspor starting next season.
The former Liverpool player has just signed a contract with the Turkish football powerhouse that will run until 2028.
This is a fantastic deal for the seven-time Turkish champions, who will be aiming to reclaim their top spot in Turkish football after a three-season dry spell.
Let’s take a look at five African players who made their mark at Trabzonspor before Mohamed Salah.
Paul Onuachu (Nigeria)
The towering Nigerian striker joined the Turkish side during the 2023 summer transfer window, arriving from Southampton for a total fee of €7 million.
In 61 matches across all competitions with the Karadeniz Fırtınası, he found the net 43 times and provided 6 assists.
His contract with Trabzonspor runs until 2028, with his market value currently estimated at €6 million.

Didier Zokora (Ivory Coast)
The former Elephants captain joined the seven-time Turkish champions in 2011 for €5 million, arriving from Sevilla.
He appeared in 105 matches, providing 4 assists, though he never managed to find the back of the net.
He left Trabzonspor in 2014 before moving to another Turkish club, Akhisar Belediye.

Dame N'Doye (Senegal)

Trezeguet (Egypt)
The Egyptian international was signed by the Turkish club in 2022 from Aston Villa for €4 million.
In 76 matches, he netted 25 goals and delivered 16 assists.
His adventure with Trabzonspor ended in 2025, as he joined his boyhood club Al Ahly for €1.6 million.
