Bradley Cross speaks candidly about his current experience at Kaizer Chiefs!
In his candid reflections, Bradley Cross has spoken about the intense pressure he encountered upon signing for Kaizer Chiefs, detailing his conscious effort to block out widespread commentary as he worked to secure his role in the team's defense.
The defender made the move to the Soweto powerhouse from Golden Arrows ahead of the 2024/25 season, inking a four-year contract as a major acquisition for former coach Nasreddine Nabi. Though it took time to become a consistent starter, Cross gradually found his footing and, prior to a recent setback, had become a more familiar figure in the lineup. The 25-year-old had accumulated 15 outings in all tournaments this term, demonstrating his increasing value to the Amakhosi rearguard.
His strong form even earned him a place in the preliminary squad for Bafana Bafana's 2025 AFCON campaign, though he was not selected for the final roster.
Looking back on his journey, Cross acknowledged that the initial period at the club was particularly tough due to the overwhelming external attention, but he has developed the resilience to move past that challenging phase.
“Since joining Chiefs, the beginning was a real challenge for me. I spent a lot of time trying to process the noise from the fans and the criticism that came my way,” said Cross. “But I overcame that, and I am proud of myself for doing that, and I am just focusing on improving on each and every game.”
Offering a progress report, Cross indicated he is now actively engaged in the rehabilitation stage of his recovery.
“Well, I was injured, and I am still doing rehab at the moment. So I would say a couple of more weeks, and I will be back,” he said.
“It’s normal, it’s part of the game like I said, and I have just been focusing on my rehab and focusing on the guys as much as I can from the outside.”
