France team: Michael Olise breaks his silence after the 2026 World Cup

Michael Olise waited two weeks after France's elimination in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup before opening up about the tournament.

The Bayern Munich player spoke out in a message posted on Instagram. Michael Olise shared his disappointment at not being able to bring the trophy back to France.

"Not being able to bring the trophy home is a huge disappointment. This is not how we imagined finishing this World Cup when the tournament started. Wearing the France jersey at a World Cup has always been, and will always remain, a dream for me. Even though we didn't manage to lift the trophy, I am proud to have set the record for the most assists in a single World Cup. But above all, I would have preferred to be here to say that we won the World Cup, all together, with my teammates, the staff, the coaches and all the supporters of the French team. That goal will continue to drive us, and we hope to bring you more moments of joy and unforgettable memories to share with us in the future.", wrote the French international.

Michael Olise sends a message to Deschamps

In his statement, Michael Olise also had a word for Didier Deschamps. The French coach who has just handed over the reins of the national team to Zinedine Zidane.
