The Lionesses open their account and edge closer to a crucial victory at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. A big boost for Senegal at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

At halftime, the Lionesses are up 1-0 against Kenya this Thursday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. After a cautious start, Senegal raised their game. Seynabou Mbengue broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish after a superb assist from Awa Casset, who outmaneuvered the Kenyan defense. Following the 0-2 defeat to Algeria in their opener, Mame Moussa Cissé's squad finally finds the net for the first time in this 2026 CAN. Most importantly, they are back in the race in Group A.

45 minutes to seal the comeback

After losing on opening day, Senegal had no choice but to react—and they're doing just that. With this 1-0 halftime lead, the Lionesses are just 45 minutes away from a win that could dramatically improve their position in the standings. It would be the perfect scenario ahead of their final group stage clash against tournament hosts Morocco.

A do-or-die match

On the opposite side, Kenya also lost their first match 0-4 to Morocco. The Harambee Starlets must bounce back or risk elimination. For now, the Lionesses are holding strong. There's one half left to turn this lead into three precious points and keep their qualification hopes fully alive.
