Burkina Faso: Amir Abdou announces his first squad as Stallions coach

The new Burkina Faso head coach unveiled his squad for the March FIFA camp on Thursday. Amir Abdou has called up several players who featured in the latest edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, alongside some fresh faces.

Core players remain in place

Captain Bertrand Traoré, who is injured, is absent from Amir Abdou's first list at the helm of the Stallions. Steeve Yago is also missing. However, Abdou can rely on a strong backbone of regulars such as Hervé Koffi, Edmond Tapsoba, Blati Touré, Dango Ouattara, Lassina Traoré, Issa Kaboré, and Arsène Kouassi.

Dual nationals integrated

As previously promised, Amir Abdou has managed to convince some dual-nationality players to join his first squad. Elohim Kaboré from Sweden’s Hammarby and Lohan Doucet from USL Dunkerque in France will bolster the defense and attack. Dylan Ouédraogo returns for the first time since 2021, with Jacques Diarra also making his comeback.
