Burkina Faso: Bertrand Traoré sidelined for March FIFA window?

Bertrand Traoré is expected to miss the Stallions’ camp during the upcoming international break this March. Having just returned to action, the Sunderland winger suffered a fresh injury in Matchweek 29 of the Premier League against Leeds United (1-0).

Speaking about the squad before Saturday’s clash with Brighton, Régis Le Bris confirmed what Sunderland fans and Burkina Faso supporters feared: Bertrand Traoré will be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks. He is expected to return at the end of May or early April 2026.

In photos shared by the Burkina Faso Football Federation on 12 February, the 30-year-old was seen wearing a knee brace on his left leg alongside new coach Amir Abdou.

After a brilliant start to the Premier League season, Bertrand Traoré suffered a knee injury during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The former Chelsea and Aston Villa star was sidelined for over 50 days. He made his comeback late in February against Bournemouth, only to suffer a setback in the very next game against Leeds United.
