Burkina Faso: Rahimo wins the 2026 Super Cup

Rahimo FC got off to the best possible start for the 2026-2027 campaign. The Academicians from Bama clinched the Burkina Faso Super Cup by defeating Vitesse FC this Saturday at the Wobi Stadium in Bobo Dioulasso.

After an intense final that ended 1-1, Rahimo showed more composure in the penalty shootout, prevailing 4-3.

A trophy cabinet that keeps growing

Founded in 2012 by former Burkina Faso international Rahim Ouedraogo, Rahimo continues to expand its silverware collection. This marks the club's third Super Cup triumph after victories in 2020 and 2025. As reigning champions of Burkina Faso, Rahimo now boasts three league titles and two Faso Cups.

A steady trajectory for a team that is establishing itself as a mainstay in Fasofoot. On the other side, Vitesse FC was playing its first ever Super Cup. The club had kicked off its story by winning the 2026 Faso Cup, its first major trophy.

A dress rehearsal before Africa

Beyond the trophy, this final marked the official opening of the 2026-2027 Fasofoot season. More importantly, it served as a full-scale test for the two Burkinabè representatives heading into African competitions. Rahimo is set to compete in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League, while Vitesse FC will make its debut in the Confederation Cup.
