EST-Petro Atlético: what does the head-to-head record say ahead of the Champions League clash?
The clash between Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Angola's Petro Atlético will be renewed in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, after the draw placed them in Group A alongside Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou and Angola's Wiliete.
The upcoming encounter will be a special one, as it will be the seventh meeting between the two teams, who have faced each other in previous editions of the continental competition.
The results of the previous six meetings reflect a genuine balance between the two teams: Espérance have won once, while the sides have drawn four times, and Petro Atlético have won one match.
Their last meeting ended in a 2-0 victory for Espérance on February 14, 2026, in the group stage, after the first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw in Angola on November 29, 2025.
The two teams had previously played out 0-0 draws in both of their group-stage meetings in the 2023-24 season, in Luanda and Tunis.
In addition, the “Red and Yellows” are expected to host the Angolan side on matchday three, between December 18 and 20, 2026, before travelling to Luanda for the return match between January 8 and 10, 2027.
