CAF CL: Ahmed Shobeir advises Al Ahly against fielding Maâloul against Sundowns

Al Ahly SC will be traveling to Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, April 19, to face Mamelodi Sundowns FC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final. For the occasion, the Egyptian club received advice from its former goalkeeper Ahmed Shobeir.

He warned Al Ahly against starting Ali Maâloul, the Tunisian left-back. Indeed, the 64-year-old believes it could be detrimental to the team. In his view, although Maâloul is very talented, he is not at 100% of his physical capacity at the moment.

"Ahmed Nabil Kouka is 100% fit. He is the top candidate for the left-back position against Mamelodi Sundowns. Bringing Maâloul would be suicide in this match," asserts Ahmed Shobeir.

Thus, Shobeir recommends that Al Ahly trust Ahmed Nabil Kouka next Saturday against the Sundowns to maximize their chances of a good result.
