CAF CL: Orlando Pirates triumph over MC Alger and take a strong lead

The Orlando Pirates delivered a standout performance by defeating MC Alger 1-0 at the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals. This victory places the South African club in a favorable position ahead of the return leg scheduled for April 9 at Orlando Stadium.

From the kickoff, both teams displayed remarkable intensity. MC Alger, the leader of the Algerian championship with 41 points in 20 matches, tried to impose their game, buoyed by a four-match unbeaten streak. The Pirates, on the other hand, demonstrated a solid defensive organization.

The only goal of the match came in the 65th minute. Mohau Nkota, who entered the game in the 59th minute, finished off a team move initiated by Relebohile Mofokeng with a left-footed cross-shot from the heart of the box.

This away victory gives Orlando Pirates a significant advantage ahead of the return match scheduled in Johannesburg.
