The spotlight is back on Africa's second most prestigious club competition, the CAF Confederation Cup, as the preliminary first round gets underway.

Several clubs have received a bye for this round, including Zamalek SC (Egypt), Wydad AC (Morocco), USM Alger (Algeria), and CR Belouizdad (Algeria).

Meanwhile, last season's champions, RS Berkane, will not defend their title as they are set to compete in the CAF Champions League.
