CAN 2025: TAS verdict awaited, Patrice Motsepe already reveals CAF's position

The wait is on for Senegal, Morocco, and even the CAF, after the Teranga Lions' federation decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAF, however, already knows what it will do once the verdict is in.

Crowned AFCON 2025 champions on January 18, Senegal was stripped of its title two months later by the Appeals Jury of the Confederation of African Football. In the days that followed, Senegal appealed the decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

This Sunday, during its executive committee meeting in Cairo, CAF announced that it will comply with the directives of the international institution. "Whatever the decision of the CAS, we will respect it," said the president of the African body, Patrice Motsepe, at a press conference.

So, will it be Senegal or Morocco who will officially and definitively be recognized as the African champions in 2025? We'll have to wait a little longer to find out.
