On the eve of the much-anticipated quarter-final against Ivory Coast, the U17 national team of Senegal exudes unwavering confidence. The young Lions of Teranga are approaching the duel against the Elephants with determination and calmness.
The quarter-finals of the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations will see Ivory Coast face Senegal this Friday, April 11, at the municipal stadium in Berrechid. It will be a clash between the leader of Group D (7 points) and the runner-up of Group C, who are also the defending champions of the tournament.
A strong game philosophy
Senegal's coach, Pape Ibrahima Faye, reiterated his team's commitment to maintaining their offensive style of play, regardless of the opponent's approach. "Whether the Ivorian team plays high or waits for us, we will not change our way of playing. I think we can expect an open match. What they showed in the group matches is a good level of football. (…) But we are not here as sacrificial victims. We are here to win, to beat Ivory Coast, and to continue our path," he stated at a press conference.
A team ready for the challenge
Ibrahima Aidara also expressed the team's preparation and vigilance facing the upcoming challenges. "We know we didn't score many goals in the group stage, but the coaches are here to help us progress. We are aware of what's ahead of us and we are ready," the Senegalese defender shared.
