Cape Town City continued their dismal start to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Milford on Saturday.

The Citizens are in 14th place on the second-tier log standings, having failed to register a win in their opening five fixtures following their relegation last season.

Meanwhile, Casric Stars maintained their spot at the summit of the table after beating Lerumo Lions 2-1 at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Stars are one-point clear at the top as second-placed Upington City took their points tally to nine with a 2-1 victory over Midland Wanderers, having played one game less.

Highbury moved up to third place after a one-all draw with The Bees FC and are level on nine points with Milford, who round up the top four.

Elsewhere, Gomora United snapped a three-game winless run with a 2-1 triumph at the expense of Baroka FC, while Hungry Lions beat Venda FC 3-1.

On the other hand, the University of Pretoria played to a goalless stalemate with Kruger United to stretch their drawing streak to five games.

At Dobsonville, Leicesterford City edged troubled Black Leopards 1-0, with the bottom-placed Limpopo club still under a FIFA imposed transfer ban.
