Just hours before their World Cup 2026 opener, Argentina is approaching the clash with Algeria with utmost caution. Lionel Scaloni has praised the quality of the Fennecs, calling them one of the most dangerous opponents in the tournament.

Lionel Scaloni didn't hold back when sizing up the challenge. On the eve of the showdown with Algeria, the Argentina head coach ranked the Fennecs among the most formidable sides at this World Cup, even drawing a direct comparison to Morocco, last tournament’s semifinalists.

"Algeria is a team similar to Morocco, they play in much the same way, with outstanding players and a great coach. We've already seen it in the Spain match—there are no easy opponents. Algeria worries us because they're a top team. It will be a real test. This is a side we have to respect, and they will, without doubt, make life difficult for us," he declared.

Words that ring out as a warning to his own squad. Yet, behind this display of caution, Scaloni knows Argentina cannot afford a misstep in their opener, still haunted by the traumatic defeat to Saudi Arabia in Qatar.
