The 3-0 defeat to Argentina left its mark, but the Greens were able to count on Zinedine Zidane’s presence in their locker room after the match.

Following Algeria’s heavy loss to Argentina (3-0) in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup, the Greens received some prestigious support. According to Algerian outlet El Heddaf, Zinedine Zidane paid a visit to the national team’s locker room to comfort his son Luca and offer encouragement to the squad.

Staying with the players after the match, the French football legend spoke with several members of the Algerian delegation, aiming to rally Vladimir Petkovic’s men ahead of the rest of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Luca Zidane had already taken responsibility for his mistakes by apologizing to his teammates. Now, it’s time for a response from Vladimir Petkovic’s side, who must bounce back against Jordan on June 23 to keep their qualification hopes alive after this heavy setback against the reigning world champions.
