Chaos in Egypt Camp! Ahly vs. National Team Clash, Emam Ashour’s Exile & Mostafa Mohamed’s Fury
A major dispute is brewing between Al Ahly & the Egyptian national team ahead of the Pharaohs June training camp, clashing with Ahly’s planned U.S. trip for the Club World Cup preparations.
Egypt Insists on Priority
Head coach Hossam Hassan has made it clear that the national team takes precedence.
“The national team's above everything. No player will be excused from international duty,” he stated.
Egypt’s camp will include 2 friendly matches against african opponents as part of preparations for the upcoming AFCON.
Emam Ashour’s Controversial Exclusion
Emam Ashour remains sidelined from the squad with Hassan confirming it’s for disciplinary reasons.
“He faked injury twice, only to play for his club days later. If he wants to return he must apologize to the egyptian people”.
Team manager Ibrahim Hassan even sarcastically commented:
“Ashour once said he was Nigerian, so why should we call him up”?
Mostafa Mohamed Faces Trouble
Striker Mostafa Mohamed may face disciplinary action after his frustrated reaction to being substituted against Sierra Leone. Cameras captured him muttering words interpreted as criticism of the coaching staff. Hassan responded:
“I didn’t see it but I won’t tolerate any disrespect. I'll review the incident”
Egypt’s World Cup Qualification Push
Egypt currently leads their world cup qualifying group with 16 point, following victories over Ethiopia & Sierra Leone. However they still face critical matches including showdown with Burkina Faso.
