Kaizer Chiefs secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, thanks to striker Flavio Silva, who received the ball with his back to goal, before swiftly turning to slot home.

Chiefs doubled the lead courtesy of in-form Wandile Duba four minutes later after an error from the home team as Elvis Chipezeze failed to claim the ball from a corner.

Amakhosi continued to put Magesi under siege with Mduduzi Shabalala pouncing on a cut back from substitute Reeve Frosler two minutes after the hour mark.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse pulled one back in the 69th minute as Ditebogo Mofokeng headed past Brandon Petersen from a set-piece delivered by Mcedi Vandala.

The visitors restored the three-goal cushion through Khanyisa Mayo, who headed home from close range after a cross from Frosler seven minutes from time.

Chiefs remain third with 45 points and now trail second-placed bitter rivals Orlando Pirates with 10 points, albeit played one game less with the Soweto derby looming.

Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef will now prepare the team for a clash against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 18 April.
