Crystal Palace Chairman Condemns Reckless Tackle

Steve Parish, Crystal Palace’s chairman and co owner told the BBC: "Jean suffered painful wound behind his ear and head. He’s in the hospital and we’re hoping for the best"

Parish strongly criticized Roberts' actions, calling it one of the most reckless challenges he has ever witnessed: "I’ve watched football all my life and I’ve never seen anything like that. The goalkeeper is 30 years old he should know better. This's the most dangerous tackle I've ever seen on football pitch."

He added: "It’s hard for me to even discuss the rest of the match because we're so concerned about Mateta. It was simply horrific challenge"

The match ended with Crystal Palace winning 3 - 1 but the focus remains on Mateta’s health and recovery.
