Djamel Belmadi makes a triumphant return to Al-Duhail!

Qatari club Al-Duhail is set to open an ambitious new chapter with the return of Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi, who will take charge of the first team starting from the 2025-2026 season. He succeeds Frenchman Christophe Galtier.

This Saturday, the club made the news official on its social media, publishing a photo of Belmadi dressed in traditional Qatari attire, accompanied by the symbolic caption: "He's Back".

At 49 years old, Djamel Belmadi returns to a club he knows inside out. He previously led the team during two memorable spells, from 2010 to 2012 and again from 2015 to 2018, clinching four league titles, two Emir Cups, and one Qatar Cup.

Under his guidance, Al-Duhail—formerly known as Lekhwiya—enjoyed a golden era: in 133 matches, the Algerian manager recorded 86 wins, 22 draws, and 25 defeats, delivering seven trophies to the club and etching his name among the most iconic coaches in its history.

On the international stage, Belmadi also left a lasting mark on Algerian football. He led the Fennecs to Africa Cup of Nations glory in 2019 and set an impressive record of 35 consecutive matches without defeat between 2019 and 2022. He stepped down in January 2024 following Algeria's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

This comeback ignites immense hope among Al-Duhail supporters, who dream of seeing their team shine once more, both domestically and on the continental stage, under the guidance of a charismatic, demanding coach deeply connected to the club’s history.
