OGC Nice has sent a medical report to the Egyptian national team staff advising against using Mohamed Abdelmonem against South Sudan next Tuesday.

This recommendation is notably linked to the artificial turf at Juba National Stadium, which will host the match. Mohamed Abdelmonem has only just returned to action after a lengthy absence due to a serious cruciate ligament injury.

As a precaution, the French club asked the Egyptian national team not to field Abdelmonem in order to avoid any risk of a relapse or a new injury. The " Pharaohs' " staff accepted this recommendation.

Abdelmonem absent from trip to South Sudan

Egyptian team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed on the official website of the Egyptian Football Federation that Abdelmonem would not be part of the delegation traveling to South Sudan.

As part of their preparations, Egypt trained this morning on an artificial pitch at the Air Defense Stadium before heading to Cairo airport to travel to South Sudan.

The session was attended by 23 players, including Omar Marmoush, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Imam Ashour and Mostafa Shobeir.

The match against South Sudan is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 13:00 GMT, as part of the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

It should be noted that Hossam Hassan's men began their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Angola in the first round of the qualifiers.
