Injury details and club confirmation

Saudi Pro League club Al-Riyadh confirmed the extent of the injury following their Matchweek 4 encounter against Al-Khaleej on Monday during which the Egyptian international was forced off.

Scans revealed a second-degree hamstring tear that requires approximately a month of recovery and rehabilitation.

Despite the setback, Trezeguet will undergo his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the Egyptian national team's medical staff, in direct coordination with Al-Riyadh’s medical department.

The forward has enjoyed an impactful start since joining the Saudi club this summer recording one goal and two assists across all competitions.

Absence from crucial AFCON qualifiers

The four week recovery timeline rules Trezeguet out of the start of Egypt’s qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to begin their qualifying journey with two crucial fixtures during the September window hosting Angola in Cairo on 25 September before travelling to face South Sudan in Juba on 29 September.

Trezeguet’s absence deprives the attacking line of valuable experience and directness on the flank for two matches that will set the foundation for the group.

Egypt’s technical staff must evaluate internal alternatives to fill the vacancy on the wing before the squad convenes for camp. In the meantime, Trezeguet will focus on his joint rehabilitation schedule with the national team and club doctors, targeting a full return to competitive action in October for Al-Riyadh and future international windows.
