England: Thomas Tuchel urges caution ahead of DR Congo clash
England are set to lock horns with DR Congo this Wednesday in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup. Thomas Tuchel has called for caution.
The Three Lions boss highlighted the numerous upsets and fiercely contested matches witnessed since the start of the knockout stage. Speaking to the press, the England manager believes the gap between teams is minimal at this World Cup, where several favorites have been pushed to extra time or even penalty shootouts.
"What this shows me... Canada found the winning goal in stoppage time, Morocco equalized in added time and then the match went the distance. Germany had to go to penalties. I think that in a way it can reassure us. Everything comes down to fine margins. These are tight matches and it helps us keep our expectations in check and put things into perspective, given what has happened so far in this World Cup," he explained ahead of tonight's showdown against DR Congo.
